We took an order recently from Tru Fitness, who are based in Turlock, CA, and offer physical fitness training. They wanted to change the face of their existing illuminated shop sign. They believed that an overhaul could make the name of their business really stand out in people’s minds. Read below how we designed a new custom acrylic sign face for their existing illuminated sign. We also used custom translucent cut vinyl graphics to devastating effect.
From the photo, you can see that we set white vinyl letters against a translucent black acrylic background. This gave an optimum contrast. We chose a stenciled font with a slightly weathered look to suggest a tough but fun attitude. The barbell bar beneath literally underlined the fact this sign advertised a fitness gym.
Tru Fitness has been going since 2014. The owner, Jake Keidel, is a great personal trainer who really knows his stuff. The gym is spacious, window-fronted and fitted with a large array of all the most modern fitness equipment.
This project was an example of where we were hired to refurbish an existing business sign rather than provide a whole new one. The client wanted to keep the dark red illuminated sign cabinet to reduce costs. We custom cut the new sign face from black, translucent acrylic. The white vinyl letters and barbell bar graphic were machine-cut. Then we applied these to the acrylic with a strong, quality adhesive. We completely smoothed out any wrinkles caused by this process. Finally, one of our trusty electrical sign installers fitted and wired up the new sign face to the sign cabinet fronting the Tru Fitness gym.
